Business Development at Rice Garden: every client and project is unique. We approach each new opportunity without pre-conceived ideas, which invariably leads to results. We’ve developed and implemented successful Chinese/Asian and sushi restaurants within supermarkets, colleges, casinos, office complexes and street locations. Our most distinctive value proposition, however, is our ability to develop and deliver an Authentic Chinese food experience for our guest.

Supermarket
We opened our first restaurant in a supermarket and we continue to be the industry leader in freshly prepared Chinese restaurants inside of host grocery locations. Our list of partners includes Albertson’s, Ball’s Food, SaveMart, Brookshire’s, Bashas’, Smith’s, and Stater Brothers. Our typical supermarke t location ranges from 500 to 800 square feet in size. Our working relationships with grocers differ slightly from company to company, but the common thread is that hosting a Rice Garden restaurant within their supermarkets has proven to be a win-win scenario for everyone involved.

Colleges and Universities
Our experience in working with universities around the U.S. has given us a unique position as institutional foodservice specialists. We understand the environment and we understand the demands that students, faculty and administrators have for value and speed of service. By designing and organizing our operations properly, Rice Garden restaurants can serve approximately 500 students in as little as two hours. Our typical college location ranges from 500 to 800 square feet in size. Furthermore, we also invest in our communities by providing unique career and training opportunities to students within the colleges and universities that we serve.


Shopping Centers and Non-traditional Venues
Several of our restaurants are located in food courts within malls and entertainment complexes. We look forward to continuing to grow our customized solution approach in shopping centers and other non-traditional venues (i.e., airports, travel plazas, military bases and hospitals). Our shopping center and non-traditional locations range in size from 650 to 850 square feet.


Street
Street locations give us the opportunity to maximize our identity while also giving our regular customers the opportunity to find us at locations that are convenient to support their day-to-day dining needs and making us an ideal destination for home meal replacements.

  • Waste line (grease waste): 4"
  • Waste line (non-grease /no toilets): 3" (4" preferred)
  • Gas Line (562 kbtu): 1 ½" –for developed length of less than 100 ft 2" – for developed length from 100 ft. to 350 ft
  • Hood Exhaust (15’-6" hood): 5100 cfm/ 400 sq. in. duct (20"X20" or 22 ½"dia.)
  • Grease Trap: Only to be used if access to an existing outside grease interceptor is not possible or if separate grease waste line is not provided by landlord
  • For entire kitchen and serving area: 75gpm/ 150lb retention – 4" inlet and outlet – installed below floor slab
  • For Chinese Range: 35 gpm/ 70lb retention – 3" inlet and outlet –installed above or below floor slab
  • Other individual fixtures: 25 gpm /50lb. retention – 2" inlet and outlet- installed above or below floor slab
  • Verify with local authorities (bldg. dept., health dept., sewer district, etc.) if grease traps are allowed plus sizing, location,and other requirements.
  • Air Conditioning: 1 ton of air conditioning for every 135 sq. ft. (rough estimate – final size of A.C. unit(s) to be calculated by mechanical engineer for that particular project). 2nd A.C unit to be considered if area of tenant space exceeds 1600 sq. ft.(1 for dining area/ 1 for kitchen/ serving area).

    Equipment platform for condenser of walk-in cooler (if self-contained unit is not used)
